Bone/Cloth project
For this project we had to create a 2-D still life segment from either a couple of skulls on top of a cloth sheet or a skeleton with a cloth sheet over top of it. For my project i choose a Monumental view of the skeleton’s arm and the side of his ribcage. I created strong contrast by creating a hard line between the white of the canvas and darkly shaded cloth. The Light within the cloth has soft transitions to abstractly show the dramatic highlights and lowlights. the Skeleton protruding from behind the cloth is more crude and unrefined containing more unblended charcoal. There are a few errors within this piece though. I feel that I left too much negative space in the upper part of the piece compared to how much activity occurs at the bottom. Also I believe that i left the skeleton too crude where it looks incomplete. overall with the clean edges and decent placement of the still life elements this piece is border line good/ ok

Over this half of the semester I have seen some growth but not as much as id like i have gotten better in some aspects like proportions, and angles over then front side and back I ve also begun to understand that i have to loosen up when I’m drawing and not be so worried about the details or making errors in the process. the new goal that I’m most also what i believe it means to be an artist, persistence. I realize that i have to place more more time into not only my main project but just drawing in general so my goal is to be more frequent on when i place pencil to paper and drawing anything that way drawing become more of a habit then a chore.
The aspect of figure drawing i wanted to improve one were my proportions, hands and feet. Over the past week I have drawn full bodies as well as focused on different poses of the hands and feet in order to gain experience and better hone my drawing skill. As I mentioned, My proportions have gotten better but i still see room for improvement. My hands have gotten significantly better, where they are starting to look accurate and lifelike compared to the mismatched shapes that I was creating before. My feet, however, have a long way to go before they look realistic.

Canon Character
Here is a character sheet for my created character, Autumus Silvas in a five angle pose: front, ¼, side , ¾, back, three facial expressions, and a action pose. For this I decided to depend more on line weight, with a higher weight for her physical body and a liner line for her clothing/ beads in her hair. While the colors are mainly flat simple and semi-desaturated colors as faded from the sun. The removal of other elements like most of the lighting/shading, removing many of the defined shapes to basic 2-d forms such as the facial, hands, feet and hair. The facial expressions are to limited to a few lines within the mouth and eyes to test how little of lines must be given to portray the emotion desired. For the Action pose, applied some third dimension elements, having the legs appear closer, to give the feel of form and space on the flat surface. I feel that with these flat colors and the simple features allow the view to maintain interest while not being overwhelmed by massive amounts of information within.
